The Heights- Pt. 2

So in my last blog post about The Heights by Peter Hedges, I talked about how flowy, and how nicely I think the book progresses. In the part of the book that I read this week, I encountered one of the biggest arguments from Kate, and Tim. Usually when you read a book, you don't think about what the other character is feeling, or thinking. I personally don't even think about the other character. I only think about the main character, or the character who is being most impacted.
What happened, was that Kate and Tim were invited to the Ashworth's party (another multi-millionaire that they know), which was filled with millionaires, and people higher in social class then Tim and Kate ever thought of. Personally, when I was reading, Tim was just being plain old stupid, and trying to make himself important. I understand he wants to be funny and all, and its just in his plain personality, But I think he took it a bit to far. He was being like, a bit like, corny. There are certain times to act around certain people.
When Tim and Kate were on their way home, I really got to get into the core of Kates feelings during the party, and also in Tim's. It really shows the different personalities of the two characters, and its easier to like, get in the characters "mode". It really brings me closer as a reader, because I can think even deeper about the character, then if it was just about Kate, or Tim. When I read this book, I think of the book Flipped. It kinda has the same flip of characters, but its not as detailed as The Heights. The Heights really brings the reading into the story.
So far, this is Hands Down the best book I read in a while.
